Public opinion research is a powerful tool, and when findings are reported in the press it can magnify their impact.  But getting research findings noticed by journalists and having them reported on correctly can be a struggle.   An effective strategy to get your research into the news begins at the design stage, when the methods you choose and the content of your questionnaires can determine whether your research might get picked up by a particular news organization.  Knowing how to analyze and communicate the research findings in media-friendly ways can also impact your success.  And generating real impact requires a deliberate and thoughtful strategy around which reporters to target and how to go about getting their attention.

The goal of this webinar is to give researchers insights into how best to go about getting their research into the news.  The speakers are experienced professionals who make editorial decisions about coverage of polling or who regularly work with clients to carry out research projects that receive a great deal of impactful media attention.

Learning Objectives:

  1. How to design your research to maximize its potential for media coverage, including what content decisions to make and what methodologies work best for news.
  2. How to communicate research findings in ways that are friendly to journalists, and how to control the narrative around survey methods and results.
  3. Strategies to follow that will help your research get the attention of the journalists most likely to find it interesting and useful to their work.
